What it does
A scrub is worked over the whole body in circles, then rinsed off. What is left behind is skin that is noticeably smoother — the effect is immediate and it is the reason people book it before a night out rather than after a long day.
It pairs naturally with everything else on the board, which is why the two longest packages both start with it: a scrub opens the skin, and whatever follows works better on it.
Salt water, sun and air conditioning are hard on skin, and a fortnight of Koh Samui does more damage than most people notice until it comes off.
Who it suits
- Anyone two weeks into a beach holiday
- Skin that feels rough, dull or salt-dried
- People who want to feel different afterwards rather than just relaxed
- Anyone booking one of the longer packages, which all begin here
How the hour goes
- Choosing the scrubWe will tell you which is gentler if your skin has had sun. Neither is harsh, but one is coarser than the other.
- The scrub itselfWorked in circles over the whole body, section by section, with a towel covering everything not being worked on.
- Rinsing offAt the salon, in warm water. You do not leave covered in it, and you do not need to shower again at your hotel.
- FinishingA light cream or oil to close, unless you would rather leave with nothing on your skin.
Before you book
Not on sunburnt skin, broken skin, fresh tattoos, or straight after shaving or waxing. A scrub on any of those is genuinely painful and slows the healing down.
If you have had sun but are not burnt, say so — we will use the gentler scrub and lighter pressure, or point you at the aloe vera instead.
Questions we get asked
Can I have a body scrub with sunburn?
Do I shower afterwards at the salon?
Is it worth combining with a massage?
